Has someone ever spread a nasty rumor about you?

Fairly often, actually.
Even though I don't throw it around, a lot of people recognize that I'm good at my craft, and that I'm honest in my dealings.
And sometimes people don't like it, because it makes them look bad.
So when I mess up, and even if I don't, it often gets blown way up, most times behind my back.
If I was cocky and narcissistic, I'd probably be better off, because I'd be able to brush them off as insignificant gossips. But that's actually really hard for me to do.
